As a service to the staff & local community, Children's Hospital constructed a new child care center located in San Diego near the main hospital campus. The facility has been designed to reflect the character and style of the new Children's Hospital wing. It houses facilities for infants and toddlers through kindergarten with separate activity spaces and isolated play yards.

The original intent of the hospital was to develop in-house construction documents, however, time constraints made this prohibitive. As the principal of Silva Studios Architecture, Mark Silva provided the architectural documents and coordination services necessary to complete the project package. During the process he assisted the facilities group to maximize their in-house CAD capabilities.
